About Me

Amanda Starkey Hahn, LMSW-IPC

Owner/Director

I graduated from Texas Christian University in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work and a minor in Criminal Justice. I earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Houston in 2002 specializing in issues related to children and families. I am licensed as an LMSW-IPR (license master level social worker with independent practitioner recognition) by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners located in Austin, Texas.

I have owned Houston Home Study, LLC for the past 20 years which expanded into Cross-My-Heart Adoption and Family Services in 2011. Cross-My-Heart is a State of Texas licensed Child Placing Agency and federally recognized non-profit. Cross-My-Heart conducts home studies for both domestic and international adoptions. I collaborate with many attorney’s and adoption agencies throughout Texas and the United States. Cross-My-Heart regularly completes home studies with Texas ICPC for interstate adoptions and USCIS/Homeland security for international adoptions.

From 2003-2008, I had a private contract with Region 6 Children’s Protective Services/The Texas Department of Protective & Regulatory Services to complete foster, adoption, kinship, and ICPC home studies. In 2008, I was awarded a contract to “broker” home studies for (Region 6) TDPRS. Under that contract, I managed and approved foster, adoption, kinship, and ICPC studies for Children’s Protective Services. In 2009, I made the decision to only complete home studies for private adoptions, private adoption agencies, custody cases, surrogacy, and international adoption.

Prior to owning Houston Home Study, I was employed by Children’s Protective Services in Harris County as an investigator, foster/adoption worker, and as a field trainer. Additionally, I served on the Child Protection Team at Texas Children’s Hospital evaluating suspected cases of abuse and neglect from 2003-2008 and again from 2015-2017.

I am currently an Adjunct Professor of Social Work at Lone Star College.
